The filling and grading of the dining hall site continues as contractors have been working daily to prepare the ground for foundation work. We did run into one slight snag when the ground in the middle of the dining hall site continued to be saturated with water despite the new drainage culverts. In order to achieve the necessary solidity for concrete footings to be set, a layer of rock and geotextile fabric was laid down to keep the water level below the foundation. We hope a new contractor to begin working on the concrete foundation in about two weeks. In order to get the amount of fill necessary to prepare the dining hall site for the foundation, we decided to take it from the hillside behind Fox Run and create a new parking lot for our interns and summer staff.
