Taking shape

With foundation work nearing completion, the outline of the new dining hall has become more and more distinguishable. The foundation walls now stand several feet above the ground, giving an image of just how large the new dining hall will be. The picture at right is how the site currently looks from above, and below is a rendering of what the space will be used for. Check out the webcam to get the latest images.

Clearly distinguishable are the three main entrances, the main dining area, the stage and the kitchen. When finished, the dining room will hold more than 60 tables, seating upwards of 600 guests.

One of the most significant developments lately is the decision to frame the new dining hall with wood instead of steel. While steel was originally thought to be the less expensive option, recent market trends have made wood the more viable option. Not only will wood framing be less expensive, but it will also be more aesthetically pleasing.

At right is the view from what will someday be the front doors of the dining hall. With foundation work wrapping up, our contrated electricians and plumbers are moving in to begin laying the complex network of cables and pipes. Back to the development page.
