Landscaping intern

Mission/Authority
The essential purpose of Young Life is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people. This is largely accomplished at Young Life camps through activities that illustrate certain aspects of Christ's life and teachings.  Each activity conducted by Young Life staff in the camp environment is intended to convey a specific message about Christ to young people, in a manner that is coordinated with other activities, leading to a continual spiritual experience during the week.

The duties of the landscaping intern are an integral part of the spiritual program of the camp. The intern must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern as he/she relates to campers, guests and staff. All staff members are expected to model Christian principles and the standards of Young Life at work and outside of work; staff members must represent Young Life positively and professionally within the local community.

Responsibilities
1. Coordinate and maintain the timely completion of all property landscape related tasks: Lawn care, trees and shrubbery, flowers and firewood for guests.
2. Preventative maintenance – provide a timely completion of the preventative maintenance program through supervision of other employees and hands-on work as skills direct.
3. Maintain a professional appearance as required to provide efficient service to the property.
4. Work closely with the landscape superintendent to ensure that tasks are being performed up to standards and in proper priority, in a timely manner and in sync with the rest of the property operation.
5. Complete projects as directed by the property superintendent, property manager and camp manager.
6. Be available to assist and supervise special events such as county fair and other program events.
7. Be able to rise to the unexpected needs of campers, staff, and guests that are not related to landscaping.
8. Attend all intern devotions.

Qualifications
1. Must display a mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
2. Acceptance and compliance with Young Life’s statements of faith and mission purpose statement, and Young Life’s policies and principles.
3. Previous Young Life summer staff experience.
