Volunteering at Lake Champion this Summer

It's not often in life that we get to evaluate our purpose, map out our future and reflect on our past. As a volunteer on summer staff or work crew at a Young Life camp, you'll have the chance to grow personally and spiritually -- you'll be surrounded by other people like yourself who really want their life to count for something. We think you'll come away from your experiences at camp better equipped to make choices about your future plans, education and career.

You'll also find yourself refreshed by the hundreds of kids you've impacted during the summer -- kids you've helped have the best week of their lives at a Young Life camp.

While volunteering on summer staff or work crew, you'll meet people from all over the country, and even from around the world. At the end of the month-long assignment, many of these people will be considered your lifelong friends. You'll have a chance to try new things and to spend a month at one of the most beautiful places on God's earth. You'll also be challenged to take your faith to a new level and learn how to serve like Jesus did thousands of years ago.

Yes, it will be hard work, but there's a big payoff -- changed lives -- yours and the kids you influence.

Summer Staff

Summer staff is the volunteer experience for those who have completed at least one year of college (or are of college or post-college age). The summer staff serve the campers in roles which require considerable maturity and non-verbal witness. Check availability of openings and apply online. Please apply as soon after January 1 as possible.

Summer Staff positions at Lake Champion include:
1 - Baker
3 - Bike Wranglers
4 - Cooks
1 - Crafts Director
2 - Laundry
2 - Landscapers
9 - Lifeguards

2 - Maintenance Techs
2 - Office Assistants
2 - Program Techs
12 - Ropes Wranglers
3 - Snack Bar Staff
3 - Store Staff
1 - Town Runner (must be at least 21)

Work Crew

Work crew is the volunteer experience for those in high school. To be eligible you must have completed one year of high school and complete your local area's work crew training course. Apply for a work crew position by talking to your local Young Life leader.
The work crew serve the campers in the following roles at Lake Champion:

6 - Housekeepers
6 – Kitchen Workers
2 – Bakers
2 – Roust-abouts
4 - Outdoor Crew
6 - Pit Crew
17 - Waiters/Waitresses

School Season Property Crew

Just like the Work Crew and Summer Staff in the summer, the Property Crew is a vital aspect of weekend camping at Lake Champion. Every weekend volunteers are needed to help run the activities such as, the high ropes course, climbing wall and zip line. There are often other jobs on property that need volunteers to complete.
