Since its inception in 1997, SharpTop Cove has evolved into a premier camping facility in north Georgia.  SharpTop has experienced adequate camper growth and received faithful support in order to reach its development goals to this point.  We celebrate this and understand there is still exciting work to be done.

One major project on the horizon is an additional camper dorm.  SharpTop currently has three main camper dorms.  It is our goal to build a fourth dorm to provide consistent and excellent housing to all campers.  The addition of the fourth dorm will also allow us to keep up with summer and school season growth that SharpTop has experienced over the past several years.  This project is currently in the planning and fundraising stage and it is our hope to have this building available for summer 2011.

Cherokee Lodge is one of the original buildings remaining from when Young Life purchased this property.  The building has seen a number of uses; with the most recent being housing for year-long interns and summer volunteers.  During the winter of 2004, two lounges were added to serve work crew and summer staff and also provide additional meeting space for school season guest groups.  In an effort to improve the accommodations of the building it was necessary to remodel the original bathrooms, vanity areas, and carpet of the building; all of which were original to the building (1979 or 1980).  In addition to the interior renovations, we also updated the exterior to make it consistent with the rest of the property and provide new windows for fresh air access to each room. This project was completed in three phases, focusing on each floor within the appropriate phase. The Cherokee Lodge Renovation project was completed on schedule in the spring of 2009. Young Life camps have a long-standing policy to first raise the funds and then to develop new projects, facilities and amenities. This is so the camp fee that summer and school season guests pay is minimized to reflect true operating costs. This practice also allows us to develop new projects to a standard of excellence.
