Camp Development

After construction is complete, Young Life camps are financially self-sufficient. All operational expenses, maintenance, administrative costs and funded depreciation are paid from camp revenue generated by the camper fee. Only major capital projects require fundraising after the initial purchase or construction.

Blue Ridge is completed!!

For as long as I can remember, the staff at Windy Gap have dreamed of having a building especially designed for assigned staff and their families. So it is just an incredible privilege to see this project finally completed!  With our new staff housing, families have a comfortable living space conducive to healthy family life.  We believe this is a much-needed (and long-awaited) way for us to serve our staff well so that they, in turn, serve kids well.

Projects

Current Projects:
Staff Apartment Remodel
We are in the process of remodeling 5 staff housing apartments. The improvements iclude a complete renovation of the kitchen, livingroom and bathrooms and adding new air conditioning/heating system to each apartment. To be completed by summer 2008
 
Future Projects:
1) Mt. Pisgah Remodel
This project will include adding a lobby to the camper Dorm, Mt. Pisgah, 2 new camper cabins within the building and a new laundry facility. To be completed by summer 2009.
 
2) Spruce Mtn. & Cedar Mtn. Remodel
Interior "facelift" of these buildings used to house Work Crew & Summer Staff in the summer and campers during the school season.  To be completed by 2010.
 
3) Kitchen Renovation
Enlarge and update our current kitchen facilities to better serve our guests.  To be completed by summer 2010.
 
Completed Projects:
1) Adult Guest Lodge "Overlook Lodge" Remodel- completed 2002.
 
2) Exterior "Facelift" of all buildings - exterior paneling and paint - completed 2003.

The Windy Gap Facelift Project was developed to improve the overall look of the camp. The first steps led to the remodel of the Adult Guest Lodge and was followed by an exterior facelift that included new paneling and painting of all 20 buildings. Development Fund Raising

We only grow as thoughtful and generous gifts allow...

 
Young Life camps have a long-standing policy to first raise the funds and then to develop new projects, facilities and amenities.
 
This is so the camp fee that summer and school season guests pay is minimized to reflect true operating costs. This practice also allows us to develop new projects to a standard of excellence.
