Moving Forward

The progress keeps going as more beams arrive on Tuesday May 15th and are unloaded by the crane.

The large support beams are anchored to the concrete slab by custom fabricated steel plates that have been welded and fit onto the anchor points. Before the beams are set, holes are pre-drilled and touched up to ensure a perfect fit.

On both ends of the support beams a steel joint is connected that joins the beam to the custom fabricated anchor and the roof beams at the top.

Raising the beams is a two man job that requires strength. One person holds the bottom anchor point as another walks the large beam up.

Once the beams are in place they need to be set. As the beam is held into place, bolts are hammered through and tightened to anchor the beam securely.

The workers continue to hammer out the support beams and the kitchen walls start to take form.
