Mission/Authority
The essential purpose of Young Life is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people. This is largely accomplished at Young Life camps through activities that illustrate certain aspects of Christ's life and teachings. Each activity conducted by Young Life staff in the camp environment is intended to convey a specific message about Christ to young people, in a manner that is coordinated with other activities, leading to a continual spiritual experience during the week. The duties of the office intern are an integral part of the spiritual program of the camp. The intern must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern as he/she relates to campers, guests and staff. All staff members are expected to model Christian principles and the standards of Young Life at work and outside of work; staff members must represent Young Life positively and professionally within the local community.
Essential Duties
• Minister to, direct, and encourage campers, guests, volunteer leaders, and staff in a manner consistent with Christian principles, Young Life’s mission, and the spiritual program of the camp.
• Convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern to campers, guests, leaders, and staff.
• Oversee office summer staff in the following: Assisting people arriving at Lake Champion Office in a friendly manner. Professionally answering phones, taking messages and disseminating necessary information to people. Processing camp mail daily Data entry Keeping the public area of the office clean and tidy
• Assist office manager in collecting camp fees and statistics
• Assist in facilitating arrivals and departures of Work Crew & Summer Staff during Assignment changeovers
• Maintain office inventory of supplies
• Oversee and verify weekly international offerings
• Verify store, crafts, snack bar and vending deposits daily and international offering weekly and complete financial report
• Assist in administering the Adult Guest Program and Reservation System for summer camping.
Other Duties
1. Be available to assist the host with special events such as water regatta, carnival and tableau.
2. Be able to rise to the unexpected needs of campers, staff, and guests that are not related to the office duties.
3. Attend all intern devotions.
Qualifications
1. Must display a mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. 2. Acceptance of and compliance with Young Life's statements of faith and mission purpose statement, and Young Life's policies and principles.
3. Previous Young Life summer staff experience.
4. Must be self-motivated, able to work and lead others with minimal supervision and posses a willingness to learn and accept direction from property staff and assigned team.
5. Previous office experience.
6. Able to use Microsoft Word and Excel
