A Leader's Guide to Lost Canyon

Whether you are bringing kids to Lost Canyon for the first time or you’ve been here the last two summers, you probably have some questions. Hopefully many of them will be answered here.

If you are unable to find the information you need here, don’t hesitate to ask the Lost Canyon staff!

The Basics

Housing

There are 4 dorms for campers at Lost Canyon with individual dorm rooms that sleep 10, 12 and 14 people. In addition, several of these have adjoining doors if you have a large group. Linens are provided and additional mattresses are available. Each cabin has its own bathroom.

Activities

You and your campers will have plenty to do at Lost Canyon. Our summer activities include the ropes course, mountain bikes, the new pool and spa, basketball and volleyball courts, disc golf course, store and snack bar and much more.

Climate and Clothing

Located in northern Arizona, the evenings at Lost Canyon can be cool at night. Daytime highs are around 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the later half of the summer. A fleece, sweatshirt or light jacket is recommended. Check the local forecast online.

High school campers and leaders should bring one set of clothes that can be thrown away and clothing for tableau and the volleyball tournament.

Schedule

Lost Canyon operates seven-day camps for high school, six day camps for junior high, a six day YoungLives camp, as well as a 6 day Capernaum camp. Keep in mind that your camp may start and / or end on a weekday. Plan to arrive at Lost Canyon between 3 and 5 p.m. on your first day of camp. Departure times vary based on the type of camp. Please check with your trip leader or call Lost Canyon for departure details.

The Young Life Staff Resources Web Site offers many valuable resources for camp leaders. Volunteers who do not have access to the Staff Resources site may call Lost Canyon or contact their area director for assistance.
