Young Life Kenya

Although not yet an official ministry, Young Life currently has volunteers in four parts of Kenya with a long history of training and impacting church leaders here. Dean Borgman, Kent McDonald and Gene Wright teach a Relevant Youth Ministries course through Daystar University in Nairobi. Taught in the summer every two years, this team has equipped and trained many Kenyans (and other Africans) in incarnational, relational ministry. Many of these leaders have taken this vision back to their churches or ministries, or even begun their own new ministry to young people. This training and the ongoing fellowship and support of the alumni have had a great impact on work with young people. In addition, at the Daystar University college campus in Athi River, a team of 13 volunteers (from Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Congo) are reaching out to some local schools in the Athi River area. Along with this, we are working with people in Nairobi, in western Kenya (Keckemaga) and in Mombasa—praying with them and planning how to reach lost young people in those places. We hope to have a key staff person in place in Kenya to help further establish work in Nairobi, Keckemaga and beyond. Mombasa will be under the leadership of our Tanzanian staff in Dar es Salaam. Currently we have volunteers doing ministry in four parts of Kenya. We have targeted Kenya as an area for development and growth.

Young Life Kenya Staff
Young Life Kenya is currently run by a team of volunteer leaders. Their goal for Young Life in Kenya is to reach as many kids as possible through love, friendship and fun which many of them have not experienced because of war and many other problems in Kenya.
