Hey Friends! Our Trip to WINDY GAP is just over a month away! The leaders and I are excited about what will be “the best week of your life.” Here are some details you and your family will want to know before we get on the bus.
Health Forms Enclosed is a genuine Young Life health form. Please fill out this form completely, including your health insurance information and PARENT SIGNATURE ON THE BACK. We must have one of these for everyone on the trip. Please note you do not need a doctor’s signature.
What to Bring You should bring a towel (for the pool), a set of clothes (including shoes, if possible) that can be thrown away, other casual clothes, toiletries, an extra pillow for the bus (Windy Gap provides all of your bedding), one nice outfit, bathing suit, and money for fast food meals on the bus trip and for a t-shirt from the camp store if you want. $30 should easily cover it. You may bring electronics and cell phone for the bus ride. However, for the security of your belongings, we will be collecting and securing these items while we are at camp and then returning them for the ride home.
What not to bring Do not bring any drugs or alcohol on the trip. While it may be tempting, it isn’t worth all the hassle and it is against the law. Departure and Arrival We will Depart at 6:30 AM from the Krispy Kreme parking lot in Cranberry. Please be there early (and set an extra alarm clock if you have to.) If you need a ride to the bus, please call me or another leader and let us know sometime before that morning. Some of our phone numbers include….JASON SMITH, 724-622-2373, DANNY SULLIVAN 814-934-8444, OR MELODY BENNETT, 717-991-7360. We’ll travel on a Highway Coach Charter bus with a professional driver. Highway Coach’s telephone number is 1.866.785.8259 We’ll return to the Krispy Kreme parking lot around 7 AM on Saturday, June 24. We’ll call as we approach the area and we encourage parents NOT to come to the parking lot until you hear from us that morning.
Finances and Fund-raising A leader or the Young Life office will contact parents soon to discuss the finances of your trip. In the meantime, if you are able to send in additional funds to help pay for your trip, you may do so at any time. Also, two important upcoming fund-raisers you should be involved in… May 19-21 NATIONALITY DAYS Fund-raiser in Ambridge. Call Ashley Sams to sign up for a time to work. 304.216.4200. JUNE ___________ Car Wash at Wendy’s in Chippewa. Call Danny Sullivan about the details of this and come prepared to make some money for your trip. Also, CALL YOUR LEADER NOW to set up a time to sell Candy at Giant Eagle. There is no investment for your family required on this fund-raiser. But, you need to set it up now. We refuse to let money be a problem for you and your family.
Contact info at camp Your student’s name (week 3) Young Life’s Windy Gap 120 Coles Cove Rd Weaverville, NC 28787 Phone: (828) 645-7187
