Camp and Flu

There have been concerns over Type A Influenza (H1N1 or Swine flu), and we want to assure and communicate with you how these situations are handled. Bellingham Young Life, and Young Life nationally, is deeply committed to keeping our campers safe and healthy. Thorough precautions are taken to screen all campers the day that camp departs. If anyone is showing symptoms of the flu, they will not be allowed to board the bus to camp, and their camp payment will be refunded. 
We don't want you to feel a sense of panic regarding this. If a camper comes down with the flu while there, he/she is immediately cared for by the medical team, and isolated. The H1N1/Influenza A lasts 24 hours. An additional 24-48 of isolation will follow, and then the camper is allowed to re-join camp activities. We want to reassure you that all safety precautions are in place and your child is in good hands while away at camp.
