Hello everyone! If you did not know my name is Tara Lundy and I have just come on staff part-time with Capernaum Hampton Roads. I’ve recently graduated from Towson University in Baltimore, MD where I received a BS degree in Earth Science and a teaching certificate for the state of MD. I have been doing Capernaum in Baltimore for four years voluntarily and hope to bring a lot to the area down here.

I met the Lord when I was 16 through YL, at Saranac Lake (a YL camp in NY). I am now 23. I’ve wanted to do Capernaum ever since I was a freshman in college and was invited to attend club. I met the kids and was hooked. I think kids with disabilities are the most amazing people. They are quick to love you and not to judge you. They remind me of how I want to be. I always think that I am more blessed by them than they are by me.

I met John Koehler at camp in 2004. He started Capernaum in Hampton roads and had the area’s first summer camp trip to Rockbridge where I offered to come and help. On the trip I met a leader named Rusty and we’ve been dating since August. As I was finishing my student teaching Fall of 2005, I prayed and prayed about moving closer to Rusty and what job to take. The Lord was fairly silent for months and months, but after meeting with trusted friends and praying continually I decided to move!
So that’s how I got here!! I am excited about serving the Lord and discovering His plans for me. I look forward to getting to know everyone better and helping bring His children with disabilities to His feet (Mark 2:1-12).

My favorite verse is from Philippians 4:6-7,
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
