Hello Capernaum family and friends! For those who don’t know me, let me in introduce myself. My name is Angela West, and I am from Chesapeake, Virginia. I have cerebral palsy, and I spend a great amount of time in a wheelchair. I recently graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation. I knew I wanted to work with children with disabilities ever since high school. This year I have been invited to come on part-time staff with Capernaum.
I have been going to church almost my entire life. However, in September of 2005, I realized that I needed to commit my entire life to the Lord. I learned that the God who created me wanted to have a personal relationship with me. How awesome is that!?!
It is a funny story of how I came to Capernaum. During my last semester of classes, Kari, a leader in Virginia Beach, saw me in the hall of school. She would always ask me to come to club, but I always had Wednesday night meetings. Then, my best friend got a call from John, and she wanted me to come with her to a Tuesday night club. I remember leaving that night and being speechless in amazement. I loved seeing the leaders looking into the hearts of people with disabilities. Ever since that night, I have not stopped coming to Capernaum. So here I am, right where God led me! I am looking forward to the awesome opportunity of serving the Lord and the kids!
My life verse:
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9
In His Grace,
Angela
