Q: My child has been to Rockbridge twice and loves it. Why can’t he go again?
A: Rockbridge policy is that all Campers should be limited to two trips unless they become a Junior Leader and serve other kids at Camp. This does not apply to Ranch Camp.
Q: How does my child become a Junior Leader?
A: Talk to your Club Leader or staff. The Jr. Leader program is by invitation only and based on our estimation of a person’s ability to meet the requirements of service, discipline and study, as well as the ability to attend Jr. Leader meetings.
Q: Could my child go to both Camps?
A: Possibly, if he/she is in high school and has been to Rockbridge only once or is a Jr. Leader. Ranch Camp is for any age and Discipleship Camp is for high school kids and others (including Jr. Leaders) that will be part of the Discipleship program.
Q: What if my friend is over 25 and not a Jr. Leader?
A: Triple R Ranch Camp would be a perfect option for him. Discipleship Camp could also be an option if it was determined that your friend could serve and participate.
Q: What about medications?
A: For Rockbridge we will ask you to fill out a med form and provide original med containers for the entire week. For Ranch Camp, we will dispense any meds you send for your child/friend that must be given during the hours of Ranch Camp.
Q: Aren’t you being discriminating about our kids?
A: Yes, we must be discriminating to make sure we comply with Young Life rules regarding the number of times camping, the Camper’s age and whether or not they serve as Jr. Leaders. Our mission is to make sure that rich Camping experiences are available to ALL Capernaum members, regardless of age or ability, in a fair and efficient way. Ranch Camp now allows us to fulfill this mission.
Q: Can I serve as a Buddy for my child/friend?
A: Parents/Caretakers may serve as Rockbridge Camp Buddies for their specific child/friend if there are severe medical needs that cannot be met by regular Buddies. Otherwise you will not be assigned the same cabin and will serve kids other than your child/friend so that they can build new friendships outside of your influence. Parent/caregivers may also serve as Ranch Camp Buddies.
Q: How do I become a Buddy?
A: Talk to your Capernaum staff and start working with the kids at Club if possible. Attend training programs as indicated by staff and pay the Camp fee required.
Q: What if my spouse and I would like to experience Rockbridge Camp without being in a cabin?
A: The Adult Guest Lodge is part of Camp and feels like a resort! Contact staff if you are interested in staying there as space is limited.
