Making a Difference to Kids

Young Life is active in various high schools and middle schools in Carroll County.
The presence of a positive role model is crucial to the healthy development of middle and high school students. In communities where Young Life is present, our leaders have the privilege of walking with kids during these pivotal years. Young Life is a non-denominational Christian ministry making a difference in the lives of kids through the friendship and influence of caring adults.

Young Life provides role models, safe activities and a sense of significance to high school and middle school students in communities across the United States and around the world. Founded in 1941 by a young pastor with a passion for the students in his community who had no interest in Christianity, Young Life offers kids:

 - The friendship of adults who take the time to relate to kids in
   their world.
 - A chance to gather and have fun in a safe setting outside of
   school.
 - An opportunity to consider the basic claims of the Christian faith
   in a non-threatening setting.

Caring Role Models

The Young Life Leader

Young Life believes that every kid is valuable to God, so much so that He paid the ultimate price for their hearts. Volunteer leaders have the opportunity to not only share this amazing love story with teenagers but also live it out alongside them.

Although volunteers come in all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, they all have one thing in common: a passion for Christ and for kids. Whatever your age or occupation, if you share this love of Christ and desire for kids to know Him, you have what it takes to be a Young Life volunteer leader.

Volunteer leaders are absolutely vital to the mission of Young Life. Without them, there literally would not be Young Life. It is their involvement that allows lives to be changed. Young Life volunteer leaders participate in a full range of activities that help them build these significant relationships with kids. These include:

• Contact Work: Spending unstructured time with teens.
• Club: A weekly meeting with an emphasis on fun, high energy and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• Campaigners: A weekly meeting where teenagers look at the Bible to learn more about God.
• Camp: Weekend or weeklong trips at Young Life’s pristine facilities where we promise kids the best time of their lives.

The Weekly Young Life Club

Club Night!
The central Young Life activity during the school year is a weekly gathering, called “club,” which usually meets in private homes. Club involves music, games and a brief talk by one of the leaders. Attending a weekend camp once or twice each school year is also a regular Young Life activity. Throughout the summer, Young Life operates weeklong camps at 21 premier properties in the United States and Canada.
