Young Life leaders are more than caring adults who serve as role models for kids. They are involved in kids' everyday lives.
One of our local leaders enjoys working on cars and has extended the invitation to several teens to join him in tearing apart and rebuilding his car. Recently, one young man called him and took him up on that offer. It ended up being an all day event and both of them had a great time!
Two other leaders volunteered in a local junior high study hall. After visiting with teens for several weeks, the youth began to invite the leaders to visit their online journals (for example: xanga). Those journals have been a great opening into teen culture and have really helped these leaders to connect with teens on their turf. Recently one mother referred to us as her "Xanga Angels."
