YoungLife's mission is exploding today across the continent of Africa.  YLX offers opportunities for service teams to travel to this magical continent, serve new and established Young Life Outreach Efforts, work alongside local ministry staff and volunteers, get a firsthand glimpse of the Young Life ministry in an international setting, and encounter Christ in a profound and powerful way! Those who've come with us before, will tell you that the heart of Africa truly offers revival & a raw perspective of the world, of our God, & of our lives, that comfort, busyness, security and success so often can steal away from us.

YLX Africa Trips are typically 7-10 Day Short-Term Volunteer Opportunities for Groups and Individuals to “serve and observe” in African Countries where Young Life is either currently ministering or just beginning and still being developed.  Groups can expect to serve in one or more of the following ways:

• As Work Crew for YL Outreach Camps run by local YL Africa Staff & Volunteer Leaders
• Community-Based Service Projects that in some way serve & help support the growing local Young Life Community
• In Local Orphanages where local Young Life Staff and Volunteers have been developing community relationships
• Assist with YL-Style Ministry Training

DATES will vary, but most opportunities are in either Spring or Summer.  Fundraising options are available for most experiences and most Costs are tax-deductible through Young Life*. 

GROUPS need to have a minimum of 10 Members, including Trip Leaders in most cases.  Maximum Group Size varies depending on Host Country and time of Trip.

COSTS = $750+ per person, depending on trip length, PLUS Airfare and Additional Safari or Sightseeing Costs (if applicable)

SAFARI Opportunities exist in most Countries, though Safari Costs* are not tax-deductible.  We can help you plan and make Safari Reservations, but you must handle these costs separate from your Service Trip expenses.

• Mid AUGUST: Need Work Team for YL Ministry Project in Arusha

KENYA

• JUNE : Need Work Teams
• AUGUST 19-28 :  Need Work Team for 2 YL Camp Sessions outside Nairobi 

UGANDA

• Early-Mid JUNE : Need Work Team for YL Ministry Project
• Mid AUGUST : Need Work Team for YL Outreach Camp

MALAWI

• JULY 25 - AUG. 24 : Need 2 Work Teams for 2 YL Camp Sessions

LIBERIA

• Mid-Late JUNE : Need Work Team for YL Ministry Project
• Early-Mid AUGUST : Need Work Team for YL Ministry Project

ZIMBABWE

We will likely be going to serve in either Kenya or Tanzania in mid-June, and then in either Uganda or Zimbabwe in mid-August.  Fill out an Application and Reference form to get started.

Please let us know ifyou would like to lead a Team to Africa in 2010.  At times we are able to host more than one Group in a Country at the same time.  We would love to work with you in serving Christ on this magnificent Continent, where we are confident you will meet and experience Jesus in a new and life-changing way!!!
