Making a Difference to Kids

Young Life is active in various high schools and middle schools in over 45 countries throughout the world. Young Life is making a difference in kids' lives.

The picture on the right is of a Dominican teen named Yanandy.  When Yanandy came to YL camp this summer he was not happy to be there.  He seemed angry at the world.  He spent the first few days sitting alone by himself and refusing to participate.  Something strange happened to Yanandy during his week at camp, and he began to change.  This is what he had to say when he left: (translated from Spanish)

"I would never have imagined that I would have this much fun and in this manner.  Something that I will always carry with me is seeing God in everything there [at camp].  Because of that, I describe my five days as total enjoyment.  I thought that having fun was what I normally did with my friends: go out at 7PM to a party and get home at six in the morning.  In my five days I learned that there are other ways [to have fun] that are healthy and promising, like with a big circle of friends around me, especially that new friend that made me free of all my fears and problems [Jesus].  Although I still have struggles, it does not matter because now I am happy and I am called a Christian.  I am new and now my life makes sense because I found what I was looking for."

There are thousands of stories out there just like Yanandy's of what Young Life has meant to teens around the world.
