Making a Difference to Kids

Young Life is active in various high schools and middle schools in the area. Young Life is making a difference in kids' lives. Here's an example of how Young Life is reaching kids: John regularly attends basketball practice at the high school where he is a Young Life leader. At first, John did not know the young men on the basketball team, but after weeks of watching practice he began to get to know who they were and exchanged a few short conversations with some of the players. One day, one of the players approached John. "You come to watch us practice a lot don't you?" the young man asked John. "Yes, I do," John said. "That's cool," the young man said. "No one does that."

How we make an Impact

Bringing caring adults into kids’ lives to offer them unconditional friendship has impacted many since Young Life began in 1941. Young Life, a non-denominational Christian ministry, believes the best about kids and offers them exciting, safe and memorable experiences to have fun with their friends and learn about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Young Life leaders are positive role models who want the best for kids. Our leaders are a varied bunch — college students, teachers, working professionals, moms, dads, retirees and more. And all of them are quality people who invest their time to build lifelong friendships with kids.

While Young Life is the organization’s name, it’s also what we call our work with high school kids; and our ministry to middle school kids is called WyldLife. Young Life and WyldLife clubs are for any middle school or high school student who wants to attend. No membership or joining is required.

Young Life and WyldLife clubs are held in a neutral location where kids can feel safe, have fun, be themselves and hear about God’s love for them. Club often includes a mix of playing games, singing songs and plenty of laughter, with a leader giving a short message about God in a way that kids can relate to.

At Campaigners, leaders and kids talk about the Bible and how it relates to life. During the summer, kids and leaders can spend a week together at Young Life or WyldLife camp. You can learn more about Young Life and WyldLife by visiting the Young Life section and the WyldLife section of the site. Also if your local Young Life area has a Web site, you can find it through the Locator.

And each summer, Young Life leaders and kids head to a Young Life camp for a week. Tucked away in beautiful surroundings, Young Life camps are made with kids in mind. The week consists of high-adventure activities, plenty of time to relax, great humor, delicious food and memories to last a lifetime. Each night, kids also enjoy exciting clubs where they hear about Jesus Christ and have an opportunity to think about the direction of their lives. Camp is one of the hallmarks of Young Life, and time after time kids return from camp saying, "It was the best week of my life."
