“The Best Week of Our Lives!”

We just returned from a great week at Lost Canyon, one of our YL Camp properties in Northern Arizona. It was a great week where myself and three leaders took a group of 5 guys and 6 girls to a life-changing week of crazy activities, funny skits, and most importantly, a week filled with Christ's Love. We raced mountain bikes and spent time on a ropes course, walking a variety of tightropes 20+ feet off the ground, we rode two waterslides and got launched into the lake off "the blob", and screamed from the top of a cliff over a quarter mile downhill into the lake on the 2nd longest zip line in North America. We ate great food and were entertained by four really, really funny guys in a variety of roles. We had Young Life Club where we sang great songs, played crazy games and saw some more funny skits.
But most importantly we witnessed Stephen Mueller, the camp speaker, talk about the person of Christ and urge kids to begin a relationship with Him. Stephen used Matthew 14, where Jesus walks across the water to the disciples in the boat, as the crux of his talks. He told us how Peter was invited by Jesus to get out of the boat and join Jesus in what was a humanly impossible task. We were then shown how we all have the same decision to make on our own lives. By the end of the week we saw over 100 kids accept Christ, 2 from our own group, as well as the seeds of God's Love being planted in over 100 more kids, and true excitement for Jesus by the kids who came to Camp as Christians. It is always an amazing and humbling experience to see hundreds of kids' lives changed for eternity as a result of a week of Camp.
Please keep our High Schoolers in your prayers, as several more from our group and dozens more from other cities said that they were not ready to get out of the boat and walk on water yet, but that their feet were over the edge. Please pray that they may be so in awe of Christ's Love that they jump out of the boat and ONTO the water with Jesus. Please pray for the YL leaders here in Cruces as we try to help them understand.
Overall it was an amazing week and a great experience seeing kids having the "best week of their lives" hearing about Christ. As someone once said, "Where else, other than at Young Life Camp, do hundreds of Lost kids line up to hear about Jesus night after night"?
