The Rollin Wilson Young Life House

The offices for Young Life in Memphis East and Memphis Metro.

The house is located at 658 Colonial Rd, right across the street from Target, and is the geographic center of the Greater Memphis Metropolitan Area.    Map

The house was purchased for Young Life in 1996 by former CFAPTHI Club kids and families who had been impacted by the ministry of Rollin Wilson.  Rollin led the CFAPTHI Young Life Club for fifty years as a Volunteer leader and was honored at our 2004 National All Staff Conference in Orlando for being a Club Leader for longer than anyone in our ministry's history.  Rollin also served on the National Board of Directors for Young Life and was close friends with our founder, Jim Rayburn.

When the house was dedicated, former CFAPTHI Young Lifer Dr. Jeanie (Stevenson) Moesner read a tribute she had written to Rollin.

Rollin started CFAPTHI in 1952 as the "Sunday night youth fellowship for Second Presbyterian Church" after coming home from visiting his old childhood camp in Colorado called Roundup Lodge For Boys.  By then Young Life had bought Roundup and changed the name to Frontier Ranch.  Frontier Ranch today

Rollin was touched by the messages by Jim Rayburn as he talked about the beautiful person of Jesus Christ but mostly Rollin was moved by the work crew and summer staff kids and their faith and the way he saw their love in action.

Rollin came home with a new desire to follow Jesus Christ and to share what he had learned with as many kids as God would allow him to.  As they say, the rest is history.  Rollin started CFAPTHI and took kids skiing over Spring Break starting sometime around 1969.  That trip was the first week long ski trip ever in Young Life.

In the late 70's Rollin started taking families from his church to Trail West, an adult facility in Colorado, and pioneered (with Brad and Marcia Baker) what would ultimately become the National Family Camp at Trail West.

Rollin has left a tremendous legacy.

Rollin Wilson, went to be with the Lord on November 7th, 2008.  He will be deeply missed and greatly appreciated by thousands of us in Memphis.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret.
