The Role of Committee
Zionsville YL Leadership Community – Staff and Committee
Committee members are a group of local adults who share ownership of YL ministry with YL staff
YL staff – have day to day authority and decision making responsibilities
Volunteer leaders (college aged, from Butler and IUPUI) assist Molly with direct ministry. Relationship between the local staff and the Committee is a partnership While responsibility for local ministry ultimately lies with YL staff, the local staff collaborates with the Committee to establish long-range goals and to deal with significant issues. Staff is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ministry. Relationships, trust, and communication between the local staff and Committee is critical for the ministry to be effective.
The role of Committee members is to • Help create the vision to reach every kid in the local area • Pray for all facets of the ministry • Ensure the integrity of the local ministry • Promote Young Life in the community • Raise funds to guarantee the local budget • Monitor the financial affairs of the area • Support and assist Young Life staff and volunteers • Provide leaders with input and advice • Support the continuity of Young Life in the area • Work with the regional director, especially during staff transitions
Committee structure and sub-committees - Our YL Committee is a “traditional” committee with sub-committees (or “Teams”) to oversee specific tasks • Prayer Team • Finance Team • Leader Support Team • Special Event Teams • Friends of Young Life coordination
Monthly gatherings - Our Young Life Leadership Community meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 6 PM. We rotate the meetings around the homes of committee members.
