Making a Difference to Kids

Young Life is active in various high schools and middle schools in the area. Young Life is making a difference in kids' lives. Here's an example of how Young Life is reaching kids: John regularly attends basketball practice at the high school where he is a Young Life leader. At first, John did not know the young men on the basketball team, but after weeks of watching practice he began to get to know who they were and exchanged a few short conversations with some of the players. One day, one of the players approached John. "You come to watch us practice a lot don't you?" the young man asked John. "Yes, I do," John said. "That's cool," the young man said. "No one does that."

What we are about!!!!!

Number 1: We're committed to hanging out with High school folks. Some people think you're obnoxious. Others think you're a problem. Still others don't know what to do. In Young Life, we take a different stance. We love being with every type of person in every type of school. We know that High school is tough and we went through it ourselves. To us, there's no one more important than you.

Number 2: We're committed to fun and adventure. We'll do whatever it takes to make sure that life isn't just the same old routine of school, music, and sports. We do stuff in town and out of town to make sure that everyone has the chance to have fun. Every month and every summer, we're doing stuff from frisbee golf, to bowling. to tubing, to summer camp, and just hanging out.

Number 3: We're committed to the fact that God loves us. This is a tough world and there are some real problems. We cherish kicking around the idea that there is more to life than the problems we see and experience. We love to talk about a hope and a purpose that is personal and wonderful. There is never any pressure to believe anything. We love folks enough to respect that faith is a personal decision. We like to be there when the going gets tough and people's questions get hard to answer.

Here are ways you can pray for Young Life.

The 5 "C"s of Young Life

a weekly outreach meeting that features music, crazy skits and games, and a Gospel message. It may not sound that exciting, but believe us when we say Young Life knows how to have fun!

the discipling aspect of our ministry, Campaigners is a weekly Bible study groups in which kids meet with their peers and their leader to grow deeper in their faith.

Contact Work-
time that volunteer leaders spend "going where kids are" - for example, football games, the high school, or the mall - in order to meet kids and build relationships.

Committee-
a group of adults who support Young Life and volunteer their time to make sure the ministry is healthy. They pray for the ministry and work on many projects, such as publicity and fundraising.
Camp -
Young Life camps are resorts for teenagers. At Camp, kids get a chance to experience fun and adventure, as well as hear the truth of Jesus Christ in an atmosphere free from the everyday pressures of their normal lives.

and one other C that is a vital component of our work-

Churches -
in Young Life, we want to walk alongside kids in their entire faith journey, from before they knew Christ to helping them grow in their faith. We believe that students must get plugged into a local Church so that they can experience the Body of Christ for a lifetime.
