Making a Difference in SCV

There are over 25,000 teenagers from 7 high schools, 7 junior high schools, 2 home schools, and 1 continuation school in the Santa Clarita Valley.  The vast majority of this confused population is looking for more to life than what they are living for.  Our volunteer leaders seek out relationships with the "furthest out" teenagers in hopes of bringing the hope of Christ to their lives.

Currently we have 3 Clubs for high school students. West Side Club reaches students at Valencia, Saugus and West Ranch High while our East Side Club is for students at Hart, Canyon and Golden Valley High. Our third Club is for students at Vazquez high in Acton/Agua Dulce.

We recently had to close our Wyld Life which was for junior high students.  It is a temporary closure as we search for the proper leadership for this highly effective and needed ministry.

Along with our ministries to high school and jr. high students we have a ministry for Special Needs students with developmental disabilities called "Fun Life" and we also have a minstry for Teenage Mothers called "YoungLives" and most recenly a new ministry for young adults called Young Life College.

We truly are about reaching "Every kid, Everywhere, for Eternity."

"Fun Life"

Young Life as an organization has a sub ministry for kids with disabilities called the Capernaum Project.  Here in Santa Clarita we have decided to call the ministry "Fun Life" because our motivation is to bring life to special needs kids through laughter and fun as well as eternal life through Jesus Christ.

We started our Fun Life a few years ago with 4 kids  in a garage.  And no we have grown into 2 clubs, one for junior high and the other for high school and beyond.  Every other Friday night we host different events for our friends such as Karaoke and dances and Clubs filled with games and laughter.

The Capernaum Project was started in the fall of 1980 by Nick Palermo, now the National Director.  There are now over 50 existing Capernaum clubs in the US and even internationally.  If you have questions or would like more info, contact John Pantellas our Fun Life Director.

YOUNGLIVES: A ministry for Teen Mothers

We recently began another powerfully needed ministry called YoungLives. This is a ministry specifically geared towards teenage girls who are mothers, or mothers-to-be.  How it works is older mothers develop mentoring relationships with these girls and help them in all walks of life from helping them develop parenting skills to general life sharing amongst each other.  If you would like more info on this ministry, please contact Sharyl Mazziotti for more info

Young Life College

We now have a ministry for the young adult college aged students of SCV.  We are an on campus Club at College of the Canyons and this ministry is aimed at bridging the gap between adolesence and adult-hood as well as the gap that exists between the believing and secular communities.  Our goal is to have a comfortable, open environment where young adults and express their views while learning and examining Christian thought.

We alternate between service projects, game nights, Young Life Clubs, and deep conversation about life over coffee.
