Making a Difference

We have 14 volunteer leaders and two full-time staff devoting more than 200 combined hours each week doing Contact Work, building relationships, running events, planning trips, and serving communities.

Wood County Young Life currently has a presence in four high schools (Bowling Green, Otsego, Eastwood, and Elmwood). Over 100 kids each week are attending a Young Life Club!

We are also running Wyldlife events (Young Life for jr. high students) with all of those corresponding schools. For more information please contact Dustin Schmidt at 419-340-0120 or dutchschmidt@gmail.com.

Our Approach

Young Life's approach with kids is based on genuine relationshps. In The Message translation of John's gospel it says about Jesus Christ, "The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood." So often those in ministry try and attract kids to where they are and what they're doing. Young Life leaders move into kids' neighborhoods to share with them the love and hope found in Jesus Christ.

Contact Work
Contact Work is our time tested approach of going where kids are. Each week you can find Young Life leaders hanging out after school, athletic events, activities, and much, much more. Young Life leaders are a permanent fixture in a teenager's social world.

Club
Young Life Club is our weekly outreach meeting for kids. It is described by most as "organized chaos," but the elements of Club are thoughtfully and intentionally prepared to create a fun, exciting, non-threatening environment in which kids of all ages, races, nationalities, and religious creeds can consider the basic truths of Christianity.

Camp
Young Life's camping program is one of its crown jewels. There are over 20 resorts across the country with trips lasting 5-7 days for kids. Most that attend refer to it as "the best week of my life." Visit the National Young Life Camping page more information including pictures and locations of all of our camps.

Campaigners
Campaigners is our weekly fellowship and Bible study for those kids interested in learning more about Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Christian. This is a smaller, more intimate meeting where kids feel comfortable addressing practical issues of faith.

How Can I Help Make an Impact?

Young Life almost always begins in a new school because of interested and invested adults in the local community.
