WHAT IS CAPERNAUM?
Most people take for granted their ability to lift a fork, get dressed, attend social gatherings, get into a car, or communicate their thoughts clearly to others. For kids with disabilities, these activities can require tremendous effort and are sometimes impossible to accomplish.
Fifteen percent of our nations teens have disabilities that potentially cut them off from many of the activities and enjoyments of mainstream life. All of us desire friendship, adventure, purpose, and direction in life. Teens and young adults with disabilities are no different. Obstacles such as poor accessibility, physical limitations, and difficulty speaking can lead to isolation of these young people. They often live with feelings of loneliness, boredom, rejection, and unfulfilled potential.
Young Life CAPERNAUM is a ministry dedicated to providing access to Christ for teens with physical and developmental disabilities.
We serve all teens and families. It is our goal to provide teens and young adults with disabilities the chance to experience growing and fulfilling friendships, to engage in activities that challenge their physical limits, to grow their potential, and to have the opportunity to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
