Alvo Da Mocidade
Forty years ago, the Lord led and American couple, Hope and Harry McDonald toward the people of Brazil. Shortly after, Hal and Judy Merwald joined the McDonald's in their work in Brazil. In 1976, a national stepped forward to volunteer his hands for the Lord's work. Today, this man, Ibere Meirelles, pictured here with Joe Walters on the left in this photo, is the National Director of Young Life in Brazil.
Alvo da Mocidade, a name describing the Brazil ministry, means "target of youth." The focus is on unchurched Brazilian teenagers, and today they are being reached in eight cities.
Alvo da Mocidade has an outstanding, world class camping property. The camping ministry began in 1966 outside of the city Campinas, and was relocated in 1975 to an impressive camp site, Fazenda Salto, in Southern Minas Gerais State. The camp sits on the shore of the Furnas Reservoir. Camping is one of the largest aspects of the ministry taking place in Brazil, and continues to build and expand today. |
