After a ten month ongoing conversation between Joe Walters and Jorge Walters in Chile, Young Life Chile was born.  Jorge and Stephanie Walters have taken the responsibility to begin this ministry in Rancagua, Chile.  Jorge has been a school teacher for the last ten years, and has felt the call to reach out to these students in a special way.

 

After his initial contact with Joe Walters in December 2005, Jorge spent two weeks in Peru attending a Young Life outreach camp and visiting Young Life club work in Lima.  He read everything he could from the Young Life website, and began doing contact work with several young men in his neighborhood.   He was doing Young Life work "unofficially" for several months, and began getting excited about making this ministry official in his city and school. 

 

In October 2006, Joe Walters made a trip to Chile to discuss this possibility.  Following that visit, Young Life was set into motion, and became official January 1, 2007.

 

Jorge and Stephanie have two children, and have been married for six years.
