Mentoring Leaders help kids consider the direction of their lives, and they offer hope for their future. If you're a Young Life alumni, many of your memories of Young Life are probably tied to your Young Life leader - part teacher, part friend, part mentor. It's hard to define a Young Life leader, but one thing is certain. Young Life volunteers walk alongside teenagers - making a difference one life at a time.
If you have a heart for teenagers and a love for Jesus Christ, you have what it takes to be a volunteer leader with Gramercy Park. Most volunteer leaders give between 3-5 hours a week. These hours include weekly Club events and Bible studies, plus leadership meetings and time spent hanging out with kids.
Gramercy Park Young Life needs volunteers to work with students from Liberty High School and Manhattan International High School. Contact Angela Kmeck for more information.
Prayer is the foundation of this ministry in NYC, and something for which staff members and committee are extremely grateful. We are asking God to direct this ministry and to raise up workers to harvest the fields, and we hope that you will join us in that prayer. If you'd like to join our local prayer group or prayer emails, contact Angela Kmeck.
Staff, committee members and volunteer leaders depend on other community members to make Young Life happen. As an area friend, you could provide meals for volunteer leader meetings or club, get involved in fundraising events, or be a part of spreading the word about Gramercy Park Young Life. Let us know that you want to help, and we'll let you know what our current needs are! Contact Angela Kmeck to get involved as an Area Friend.
Perhaps you have talents or resources that we haven't mentioned. Just let us know how you'd like to help. Young Life staff members are some creative folks - and if your desire is for teenagers to know Jesus, they'd love to identify a way your gifts could be used in this ministry.
WORK CREW
And if you're looking for a short-term opportunity, consider joining us for a Work Crew weekend next Fall at Lake Champion in upstate New York. We'll spend the weekend working with the property staff at the camp giving kids the best weekend of their lives. Some jobs include working in the kitchen, serving food, preparing field games, and general help around the property.
