Jeni McLane - Young Life Costa Rica

Testimony

I grew up attending church and was baptized, but did not understand that Jesus desired a personal relationship with me. Not until I was invited to Young Life when I was a sophomore in high school did I begin to understand. I began that relationship at age 16 while at Young Life’s Windy Gap.  When I participated in a foreign study program to Costa Rica back in 1994, I knew God was beginning to draw me to Latin America.  After graduating from Furman University in 1995, I put my Health and Exercise Science degree to work for a few years. Then in 1998 I started the adventure of serving with Young Life. I learned Young Life was in Latin America and I began praying for God to lead my life further south. I returned to Costa Rica in 2000 for more language school and eventually moved in 2004. The adventure continues with my current position as Work Team Coordinator and Assistant to the Country Coordinator.

Hopes and Prayers for folks joining us in Young Life Costa Rica Ministry:

1.  That they would come with a truly humble heart.

2.  That they would fall more in love with Jesus and hear more clearly His call on their lives. That they would be drawn to a greater understanding and passion for the Lord’s work in the world.

3.  That they would make a heart connection with Costa Rica – the people, the country, the ministry – not just for a week but for the rest of their lives.

4.  That they would come to serve no matter how futile or senseless it may seem. That they would leave understanding the difference between “serving” and “being a servant”.

Hebrews 12:1-3

Favorite Quote:

“Life itself is a race marked by a start and a finish. It is what we learn during the race, and how we apply it, that determines whether our participation has had particular value. If we learn from each success, and each failure, and improve ourselves through this process, then, at the end, we have fulfilled our potential and performed well.” Anonymous
