Why We Do What We Do...
Founded in 1941, Young Life has touched the lives of millions of teenagers all over the U.S. with a message of hope. Being a teenager is not easy in today’s culture. The challenges of growing up are so much more evident now than ever before.
Young Life’s goal is to walk along side teenagers on their turf, and serve as a supportive , caring role model. Young Life believes that one of the best ways to encourage kids is to share the basics of the Christian faith in a non-threatening manner and in terms they can understand.
Young Life is an inter-denominational outreach to adolescent students that’s sponsored by local individuals, businesses, and both Protestant and Catholic churches in the local vicinity.
Young Life offers constructive, creative ways for kids to spend time that include very fun weekly Club meetings, first-class resort camping trips, and just hang’n out. Young Life Leaders care about kids and are committed to them as they travel through life’s adventures.
Often, YL Leaders are college students or recent graduates who’ve been deeply touched by YL during their high school years. They desire to “give back” by spending time with teens and walking beside them, knowing it can make all the difference in the world. As well, there are many YL Leaders who are older, who also care deeply about our youth and are giving their lives to provide a moral compass to this next generation up to bat.
To date, Young Life has over 3,200 staff workers and over 16,000 trained volunteer leaders worldwide, not to mention thousands of Committee folks who guide and support the program locally. Young Life has been extremely effective in reaching the hearts of teenagers all over America!
