Parents and Community

Even though Young Life is especially for kids, parents and other adults in the community are important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways - by becoming a volunteer leader or committee member, by attending a Young Life fund-raising event, by hosting Young Life or by simply telling others in the community about Young Life and its commitment to kids.

Young Life values parent and community leaders.  We see our role as coming alongside families and community leaders to invest in their kids. We want parents to feel informed about our work, to know they are invited to participate, and to ask questions — we want to work together any way we can!  Young Life cherishes the involvement of parents and community adults in a number of important roles within the ministry so that we can
  • Help kids build deep and lasting friendships
  • Encourage the development of a healthy self image
  • Provide new, exciting challenges and experiences
  • Introduce kids to Jesus Christ and His relevance to their lives today
  • Offer kids a safe place to belong and be themselves

Our principles are very simple:  Go where kids go, earn the right to be heard, and share our lives with teens.  Bring your friends, pastors, youth leaders, school staff, and anyone you think may be interested in hearing more.  Please come to find out how you can get become part of the Young Life team!

Keeping Kids Safe

An important part of our committment to kids is how we keep kids safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know they are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity. Young Life's Human Resources department has developed missionwide policies and procedures to ensure that kids are protected when they are with Young Life staff and/or leaders, as well as when kids are part of Young Life's sponsored activities.
